Roxanne Avent Taylor, producer and co-founder of the Hidden Empire Film Group (HEFG) alongside director Deon Taylor, has been responsible for record-breaking content and bringing social justice campaigns to the forefront. Under her leadership, HEFG has developed and produced an impressive slate of films, including: The Intruder, Traffik, Black and Blue, and her recently produced Lionsgate’s psychological thriller Fatale. Taylor was a driving force behind Hidden Empire’s massive success in 2016 with the studio’s horror spoof Meet the Blacks. Following the film’s success at the box office, HEFG recently completed production on the sequel Meet the Blacks 2: The House Next Door, starring comedy icons Mike Epps and Katt Williams. Taylor received the 2018 WIN (Women in, NAACP) Leadership Award from the NAACP and the 2019 Baron Jay Foundation Trailblazer Award. Additionally, Taylor and HEFG received the 2019 Location Manager Guild International (LMGI) Humanitarian of the Year Award. Alongside Robert F. Smith and Deon Taylor, Roxanne Avent Taylor produce the digital series Be Woke. Vote, a social media philanthropic initiative to encourage non-voters to vote and young people to discuss political issues affecting our communities. The bipartisan series hosted by CNN's Van Jones as well as Roland Martin and Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris features interviews with major celebrities and newsmakers from entertainment to pop culture. Be Woke. Vote won two Webby Awards in 2020. Additionally, her non-profit organization, C.L.I.M.B. Network, is a charitable initiative to help today’s disadvantaged youth achieve success.
