Vice Chairman and President, XPENG

Brian Gu

Dr. Brian Gu is the Vice Chairman and President of XPENG (NYSE: XPEV; HKEX: 9868), a leading smart electric vehicle player in China. His multifaceted responsibilities encompasses corporate strategy, finance, legal affairs, and investments. He also leads XPENG's international market devlopment, policy and regulatory matters, corporate branding efforts as well as XPENG's firmwide ESG efforts. Under his leadership, XPENG has achieved significant milestones, such as completing capital raisings totaling over $9 billion including ground breaking listing debuts on both the NYSE and HKEX, entering into a strategic partnership with the Volkswagen Group and Didi Global, receiving the highest rating (AAA in 2023; AA from 2020-2022) among global automobile companies for four consecutive years in MSCI ESG research. Prior to joining XPENG, Dr. Gu was a managing director, Chairman of Asia Pacific Investment Banking and a member of the Global Strategic Advisory Council at J.P. Morgan. He holds an MBA from Yale University, a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Washington Medical School, and a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Oregon.
